Age Requirements

as always, comment with your own thoughts or introduce another thing with an age limit or requirement which really gets on your nerves!

Why it is the government sets an age for everything?  
First of all let’s talk about the age requirement of getting a job.  Where I live the requirement is fifteen and a half I believe…  I think that age should not be as much of a factor when hiring somebody.  Say the job is just washing dishes… if the person is willing to do such a job that does not require very many skills whatsoever, then they should be given the opportunity to do so don’t you think?  I’m not talking real young children, but I think 13 would be a nice age.  Think back to that age.  The only money you were to get was on holidays and birthdays, and mother was always right there writing it into your bank account so you could save for later.  What about now?  

So that one isn’t such a big deal perhaps, but what about alcohol?  
Everyone knows that many people drink their fair share of alcoholic beverages long before it’s legal for them to do so.  Maybe if we were to teach children how to drink responsibly at a young age, it would massively cut down on a number of related deaths.  Other countries don’t have drinking ages, and I’m almost certain there is a much lesser death rate dealing with people getting too out of control drunk.  A drinking age seems to be the government’s easy way out.  

And driving?  Maybe a teenage learners permit would be beneficial.  Set the learners permit age to thirteen?  Then kids would have three and a half years of driving with an adult to get good before going for their license.  Going somewhere with your parents?  You could drive everywhere.  It would be way more logical than having a few hours with somebody and then be thrown out on the streets to find things out the hard way.  

And gambling?  This one maybe the age is proper, but nobody ever teaches you about getting addicted to gambling… you suddenly come of age and may get caught into the excitement.  People should teach the downsides… why won’t they?  Because imagine, the government gets massive amounts of that money, why would they want people to smarten up?


So what is with age?  It’s a number, it’s a curse.  An age limit to everything and it seems to not help a thing.  People come of age and chaos happens because they have not been taught properly.  Age does not deem maturity.  There are sixty year olds still as immature and often times perverted as a preteen adolescent.  Children can be mature at a very young age, time passing does not make somebody mature, only teaching them important lessons can do that.
