Constellation of One

Constellation of One

A Poem by Ashli

Thinking of the sky,
She captures handfuls of clouds.
The sun observes her,
Irate without any shelter.
Constellations paint for her with their stardust and comets.
She holds the fragments of the clouds close against her heart and ribs.
Scintillating stars converse,
Gossiping about the girl.
The girl holding on for dear life.
She is unwilling to release the planets,
With the moon softly comforting her.
The rest of the sky scoffs.
It is not long before she takes that leap of faith.
And so there she goes,
Another shooting star for the world to see.

love this piece...love the metaphor and how it is carried out with her becoming the shooting star at the end...I like how the sun gets its dander up when she confiscates the clouds.
