Someday I'll forget

Someday I'll forget

A Poem by Elizabeth Reed

Words strike out light thrashing lighting, pour like driving rain
I can't stop them as they lash at you, it's like I've gone insane
I ramble and I rant as tears stream from my eyes
You stand there and you take it, you listen to my cries
So stoic and so peaceful, you stare into my soul
The heart you knew as warm and soft is now as black as coal
In your eyes you're innocent, you don't know why I scream
You have no idea what you've done to me, how you've been so mean
You never knew my feelings for you, how I loved you with all my heart
Then she came along, my best friend, she tore us both apart
I know it's not your fault, and you were never mine
I have no right to be mad, I will get better in time
You still have no idea why I'm sad every day
You still just have no clue why I say what I say
But you're a perfect match, you and my best friend
I hope everything works out, I hope for a happy end
I'll find someone someday who wipes away my tears
I'll find someone someday who scares away all my fears
So live your life so blissfully unaware, not knowing what you've done
Someday I'll forget how I thought you were the one

You are so good for your best friend!
I am impressed by your lovely gesture for her and your loved person.
I should not dissect your epic poem to show the most favorite lines.
The whole piece is wonderful.
Congratulations!!!

i was first attracted to your pages because of your name. back in the 70's a group called the allman brothers did a song called "in memory of elizabeth reed" upon further scrutiny i was impressed by your writing style and i must say that you do, indeed, have a gift. thank you for being a part of writerscafe!
