"This Cross"

#1 This cross Lord, is so heavy

My trials are hard to bear

Sometimes I wonder

If you really care

  

#2 This cross is very big and long

 So heavy when I'm dragging

Could you make it lighter

Sorry if I'm nagging

 #3 This cross would be easier

Please saw some off a little

It will be much lighter

I'll even help you whittle

 #4 This cross Is still very heavy

How did you ever carry it

Oh! Lord you suffered so

 You never said "I quit"

 #5 This cross is heavy leaden

I need you to cut some more

Sometimes the trials you give

Are really such a chore

#6 This cross is much shorter now

I can handle it just fine

I'm not sure where I'm going

But now I'll be on time

 

#7 This cross Lord thank you

For doing just what I asked

Now I'm passing the others 

I'm going Oh! So fast

 

 #8 Lord! I see a deep cavern

  The length across I can't jump

Now I get the message

I've been such a chump

 

#9 This cross is now a bridge

It has saved all others day

With faith in your word

Trusting in your way

 #10 This cross of mine is to short

Can't reach across the ravine

Now I know the trials You give

Your reasons are unseen

  #11 At This cross forgive me Lord

I'll never change your ways

You know what is best

Every hour of my days
