"The Yard Cross"A Poem by WordShifterTrue story about my "Yard Cross"I wanted a cross in my yard To remind me of the Lord
An old rugged cross
One that I could afford
Called my carpenter Mike
Told him about my plan
All my decorating schemes
Has made him a rich man
I told him I have a hill
And I want a big cross
Like the rugged one
To remind who's the Boss
While Mike worked so hard
Just right with precision
He was hanging up the cross
When I saw a heavenly vision
It was such a Kodak moment
A photo I had to get
Snapped the camera shot
I didn't mind the sweat
My neighbor Loves the Lord
I know she won't be upset
We spend a lot of time
Praying for the "national debt"
Mike said the photos are good but
Knee pads and watch look dumb
Wonder why he didn't take them off
Where was he coming from
Next morning I had a dream
To the Lord I was talking
About my vision and the cross
How with Him I am walking
Talked about the photos
We had a real good laugh
He said "It went just as planned"
And He's still "Chief of Staff"
He said "tell my people
They must pray for the nation
Knee pads are needed
There should be no hesitation"
He said, "I planned for the watch
Now tell your friends I'm the way
Time is short and running out
I'm coming soon some day".
