'Grass Shack Salon"

'Grass Shack Salon"

A Poem by WordShifter
"

True story about my friend next door.

"
"Grass Shack Salon"

My neighbor is a special friend
She always thinks of me
Coffee and prayers we often share
Sometimes we snorkel in the sea

She was happy to have her guest
When she got a doctor's call
"You have Cancer" he sadly said
We prayed together had to bawl

Now with the dreaded chemo
It seems so very cruel
Her friends all got together
Made a love quilt, it's a jewel

 Signed by quilter friends
From Hula and Bible study
Words of strength and hope
For our very special buddy

So now her hair is falling fast
With chunks left in her hand
It doesn't feel that this is right
Yet seems this is God's plan

There is help with lots of hats
Scarves are fine but not a wig
Good thing we're not drinkers
Cause this makes us want a swig

"Come to the Grass Shack Salon
I'll grab the clipper, help you fight"
She prayed and I shaved her head
With God by our side it'll be all right

She asked "Can you do this?
You don't have to go this length"
I said "I can do all things
Through Him who gives me strength"

Thank you Captain Don, You know I'm new to writing poems, you and Barbara along with my friend Eileen have helped me very much thank you. I'm enjoying the ride, I keep waking up with rhymes in my head, guess I've been bitten by some kind of bug.
