We live next to a lava tube
by Ginger Sizemore Over the years has fallen in To get there must chop the brush Sixty-five feet down to see within It's all lush with papaya trees So many stories it could tell Maybe early Hawaiians lived there We wonder how they all did dwell An owl family lives deep inside Once they flew out of the cave Must circle up to just get out To descend one must be brave We asked some friends to join us This certainly will be a blast A very long rope we have Two guys went, we ladies passed The descent went fairly well The younger went first and fast The older got caught on the rope Didn't think he would ever last Finally he slid down the rope And in the cave they went Human bones were found which proves In this cave some lives were spent So now it's time to come up It's getting dark and so cold There is no energy left Where are those men so bold So now we ladies must go To get some help somehow Lord help us we don't know An extension ladder, OH WOW! We ran so fast to the garage And hauled it through the brush Tied ladder carefully to the rope You should have seen the rush We ladies saved the day Next time we want to explore The guys will remember We all got what we asked for © 2011 WordShifter |
