A Tribute To Suicide

A Tribute To Suicide

A Poem by Joe W
"

Another suicide poem that has a good ending. This is more gender-neutral.

"
The cuts on your arms attracts everyone's stares. You don't care because
you were told that no one cares. The family is messed up but you don't
say anything about it. Your dad left when you were 2 and now your mom is
a heroine addict. Not to mention all the other drugs and things she's
into. Yet it's her life and she doesn't care so why should you. You've
been told I love you by a million people a million times. Yet you don't
believe a single one because your going through tough times. Times that
you think that no one in the world would understand but you. You sit and
wonder what in the world can I do? What can I do to make them look my
way not just because of the scars on your wrist and your arms and ask if
I'm okay. It seems like I can't do anything so I choose to go through
this everyday. Instead of reaching for help I close up and shut my door.
Simply because I don't want to hear another persons voice say I love
you anymore. I've heard it nearly every time and I always think it's a
lie. So what can I do but commit suicide? The pills are in hand and the
gun close by in case OD doesn't do the job. The voices inside shout
horrible things like an angry mob. About to do it there's a soft knock
on the door. Wondering who it is because it seemed like no one cared
anymore. Opening it up seeing a note that simply says I love you on a
little card that in the corner is slightly bent. Even though it's been
heard a million times somehow this is different. Doesn't know why but
suddenly can't go through with the plan that was in place and seemed so
perfect. Wondering how a card with three words have such a big effect.
Hearing it from the people's mouths apparently wasn't enough to pull out
from the pit. Couldn't just hear it for some reason had to see it.
There it was written in what looked like bold letters were the words I
love you. So if you see someone struggling don't just ask but see what
you can do.
