Sticks and Stones

Sticks and Stones

A Poem by WordKnurd

With a branch drawn from the fire

You write your name upon my skin.

The charcoal words will fade with water,

But the pink burns will remain.

So when I walk into the river

I’ll sew the stones into my hem.

You can write my sins on every pebble

But rocks have no flesh to burn.
