The Final StormA Poem by LilyJust something I wrote one day when i was supposed to be cleaning. The lightning flashes
and the storm passes. The thunder rumbles all around as the final rain falls down. Our eyes locked from across the field hours ago did our storm yield. But my hair is still wet with rain And my heart feels darkness mixed with pain. The silence is overwhelming The darkness consuming. I tell him I love him and beg him to stay, but he shakes his head, turns, and walks away. Screaming, I sink to my knees He didn't stop walking, ignoring my pleas. Overhead the thunder roars, but the rain doesn't pour. I feel the tears on my cheek and remind myself I'm not weak. I rise to my feet, standing tall with power Glaring at his back in what will be his final hour. I pointed my hand at his distant figure A bolt of lightning went through his heart from my finger. I walk to his body and found he was barely alive Before he dies he whispers one word, “Why?” This man betrayed me, but what I still feel for him was love the stars shine down on me and the storm breaks above. I lean down and kiss his cold, pale lips And around me the wind still whips. The realization sunk in of what I had done Because with out him my life had no laughter or fun. His feelings for me were real, right? They couldn't have been fake That thought, that small doubt, broke my heart and I fell down, never to wake. © 2014 Lily |
