Wasted Time

Wasted Time

A Poem by Wooddawg

Learned and schooled, life turns out

Bruised and battered, damaged throughout

Come off a cynic, right down to the bone

Wounds from the past won't leave me alone.

Living in darkness, life's turned rough

Down and out and I've had enough

The pain it hurts and nothing moves me

Without sedation's disguise, I loathe me.

It's wasted time....left foot right!

This hatred owns me....I kill tonight!

All sense of trust been burnt to the ground

The tightest spring I have wound

I lie to myself, and say it ain't real

But I'm a gaping gash that just won't heal.

Retreat to solitude, I run and I hide

Can not run from what is inside

The pain it hurts and it consumes me

Shut my eyes, I loathe me.

It's wasted time....left foot right!

Hope escapes me....do I die tonight?
