Previously on life after death...
"Chase!!" Hector screamed as tears began to form in his fading vision.
Chase noticed his voice that time and slowly turned his head towards him. But as he did this his footing slipped off the branch! The rope grew taunt and the sound of snapping bone rang through Hectors ears. A look of complete and utter horror consumed Hectors emotions, such that no human should look like. Everything on him began to shake, as if he was having a seizure!
"Chaaaaaase!!" He screamed bloody murder as his tears and sweat poured from his face like blood.
He clutched his face in anguish as he let out a roar of terror into the now pitch black sky. Thunder struck and the wind started to howl, carrying his roars and screams. All the while Chases body hung in the wind, limb... and lifeless...
Scene 1
It was that dark room again. Space that seemed to not exist at all, so alone and void. The same light sat in the midst of the area, with Darpa on his resting place, just as always. He laid there with hoarse breathing and an occasional twitch, but this was normal behavior. Everything seemed calm, until suddenly his yellow eyes opened from under his tattered hood and he began to shake. His metal gloved hand reached his chest and grasped it as his breathing became more heavy. He slowly shifted his weight to one side, pushing up on one arm, and tried to sit up. He failed and slipped off the side onto the floor, with a loud noise that echoed through the dark empty room. His breathing growing more uneven and spastic. He weakly shifted around on the floor, his metal claw clanking here and there, trying to find ground.
"P-please..." He whispered in a slow airless voice, "Hector... Something i- is wrong. That smell! It's so..."
He gasped for air as he found ground and his hand reached for the table of which he had fallen from. He latched on and struggled to pull himself up. But he had barely made it over the side before he had slipped off again with another thud. "Hector-... Whats h-happening?" His metal hand reaching once more to the table above.
-Chapter:4 Reunion-
Scene 2
The wind was still howling, continuing to carry Hector's agonizing screams and cry's for miles. Chase's body, still hanging in the wind. The rain began falling harder and grew in size and intensity. The trees frantically danced about in the wind, thrashing back and forth, with shedding leaves. The fresh dirt around Hector turned to mud as it mixed with the water and his knees pressed hard upon it.
Hector's cry's stopped as he violently raked his hands over his face. His brilliant yellow eyes shining ever so brightly. He had cried so many tears that no more would come to the surface. But instead, they would well up inside of him. His hand's fell from his face, limp and uncontrolled, falling to the mud with a splash. His face still to the wet sky with unchanged expressions. He just stayed there on his knees, motionless, unable to grip the situation. With his face still upwards, his illuminated eyes fell to Chase's body, full of fear. He then threw himself forward and dug his hands into the mud. His face towards the ground, his emotions the same. His breathing grew heavier, his grip stronger. Something was happening inside of him. Something in his mind, clicking like a clock, so slow. Tick... tick... tic- But the clock shattered!
Hector's expression suddenly changed. His attention pulled towards Chase with determination. His head quickly rose to meet Chase's body. With it dangling in the wind, Hector's eyes searched all around it. He wanted so badly to look away, but something in his mind was crazily buzzing about. He made himself look at it! To look at his own brothers body, hanging by it's neck, tied to a branch. The terror he must be felling at the moment, it must be mind shattering.
He crouch as if ready to jump and then dashed forward towards his brother. He flexed and opened his armor cover hand as he threw his arm out to the side as he ran. He then jumped and slashed the rope that bound Chase to the tree. Chases body plopped to the ground as Hector landed in the mud a few feet away. Hector frantically tried to make his way to his brother's body as he slipped and slide in the mud. He crawled through the mud on his knees, with uneven movement, trying so hard to reach his destination. He was like a crazy man thrashing about. Once he had made it to his brother he threw himself over him.
Suddenly, blue illuminating smoke began to seep out of Chases chest and wisp in the wind. Hector frantically tried to catch it and force it back into his brother's chest. He grabbed and forced, again and again. He pounded the smoke into his brother's chest, his face full of horror and fearful determination. He pounded more and more, trying to make it all stay in. The smoke was slowly slipping through his finger as he continued to pound. All of a sudden, Chase's eyes opened wide and he started gasping for air! His lungs filling to the brim, and the smoke started to fall back to it's place.
Scene 3
There was a large building with people coming in and out. Ambulances passing and parking in their designated parking spots. A concrete veranda, built into the side of the building, sat out over the entrance. It was a hospital.
It was night and the lights from the building lit up the parking lot. Every parking place in the area was filled. A few people dashed to the doors covering their heads from the forceful weather. Their feet, splashing in puddles.
Far off, on the other side of the dark parking lot, Hector was quickly running towards the hospital. Chase in his arms laying unconscious and soaking wet. Hector, also being soaked to the bone, frantically ran in between cars trying to reach his destination. His eyes full of worry and fear. Almost like a frightened child that had no clue what was happening. So innocent and caring.
As he moved through the cars he almost tripped in a puddle, but quickly regained his footing as he came out of the parking spaces. He had made it into the road, but suddenly a car abruptly stopped next to him. Hector swiftly dodged the front end and quickly continued on his way. He had entered another patch of parked cars across the road and couldn't fit through the two cars. He began to madly kicked at the side mirrors of the two cars, trying to force his way through. After a moment the mirrors shattered and he pushed his way through as plasic and glass trickled to the wet concrete.
The rain pelted Hector in the face as he viciously whipped his eyes on his shoulder, unable to reach his face with his hands. His sight grew even blurrier with the rain and tears clouding his view. His arms and legs began to grow tired as he carried his brother. He had traveled countless miles from the cemetery, far from the city. But a thousand miles meant nothing to him at a time like this. He would of given his own life to save the people that he loved.
He had finally reached the entrance of the hospital as he fell to his knees with a thud. He could barely see anymore with his surroundings growing darker with every passing moment. Chases dropped from his arms to the concrete as Hector fell over. He couldn't breath, and before long, he had lost consciousness. His eyes still open, shining bright yellow, and rain and tears dripping from his face.
Scene 4
It had been about 24 hours since Chase was put into the hospital. They wouldn't let Hector see him, due to the fact that he couldn't prove to be blood related.
Hector paced around with uneasy movement in the empty waiting room. With Chase's cell phone in his hand He tapped a few buttons impatiently. A young man walked into the room and made his way to a vending machine against the wall. Hector just nervously watched with little interest, his mind set on his brother. A loud clank rang through the room as the machine spit out a canned soft drink and the young man grabbed it. The man then quietly made his way back out of the waiting room.
The doctors had told Hector that his brother was going to make it, but that he was showing unknown reactions to something. Hector just continued to pace the floor, waiting for a reply. He had been there the entire time, waiting to get to see Chase.
A doctor clothed in a white coat walked into the waiting room holding a clip board. Hector, startled, quickly turned towards the doctor with a worried look on his face. The doctor looked up at Hector from his board and a questioning look shot across his face. Hector just stood there, not knowing what was wrong. The doctor slowly scanned Him from head to toe with his eyes. Hector then realized what was wrong.
"Umm, sorry Sir, this costume is for... an act. I'm in a play. I just rushed over to see my pal Chase. I didn't have time to change out of it." Hector said scratching the back of his head.
The doctor's expression turned to a warm smile and then he continued the conversation:
"Well," He said with a light laugh, "Speaking of the young man, I think he will be just fine. He'll live for sure, but the way things are going, we don't know what is happening to him. There is an unknown substance inside of him. We cant identify it yet, therefor we don't know whether its harmful or not. It doesn't seem to be taking any physical effect, but there's always a chance..."
"Can you fix it?" Hector said stepping a little closer.
"We don't know yet. We're doing some tests and studying him at the moment. To tell you the truth, I think this is absolutely fascinating."
Hector stared at him for a moment and then walked over to the side. He sat in one of the chairs and leaned his chin in his fist. The doctor hesitated to speak, but soon gain enough courage to continue.
"But you can go see him soon, just let me clear it it with everyone else." He said with a nod as he headed to the door.
Hector remained unmoved for a moment, but soon enough, a smile slowly crept over his face.
Scene 5
Hector slowly stepped into the cold hospital room, being gentle not to disturb anyone. Chase laid on the bed, clothed in a patient's robe and resting with a brace around his neck. He just stared at the ceiling as if in a deep daze. Hector gently made his way to the bed side and laid a hand on Chase's arm.
"I don't quite understand whats going on," Chase quietly said after a while with a pause afterwords, "But I believe it. Your... Your alive."
"Yes." Hector said with a loving smile, "But it's... hard to explain. But we're both ok now."
"So your not alive after all." Chase gave off a hoarse laugh and then continued, "I'd believe anything after what just happened."
Hector gave his brother a questioning look and then gently sat next to him on the bed. "So you saw the whole thing?"
"Yeah... Well, most of it. Somethings not natural about this, Hector. Your... Not human, are you?" Chases said as his dazed and tired eyes slowly shifted to his brother. "And, whats with those cloths?"
There was a long pause as Hector leaned over a little to the side table next to the bed. He started fittilling around with a clock that was on the table, clicking a few buttons here and there. He seemed to ignore the question as if lost in thought.
"I'm still human, and alive. But... not normal, not at all. I guess you could call me... a monster. You'd have to, that's the only category I fit under anymore." Hector whispered sadly as he continued to tinker with the clock.
"So... your the Grim reaper?"
Hector jumped up in surprise, knocking the clock from the side table and backing off a ways. He stared at his brother with astonishment and question. Chases smiled and then spoke out:
"It doesn't matter if you are or not. Your alive and that's all I care about." A tear ran down his face as his smile grew larger.
"But how did you-? How did you know?" Hector said, stepping closer with the same expression on his face.
"Most people would never think of anything like that. Most would think I'm superstitious or something. But after what happened earlier... there's no doubt in my mind. You and me... were both supposed to be dead, Hector. There's no other way to explain it."

Hector was now standing over his brother, his face had melted back to a smile.
"Your right." He then leaned over and gave Chase the biggest hug he had ever given him.
Both were laughing and crying at the same time. They were so happy that they couldn't control their emotions. After they were finished Hector got up and whipped the tears from his eyes with a little laugh.
"You saved my life man." Chase said, another tear falling off his cheek.
"And you, mine." That same smile across his face.
Chase gave him a weird questioning look. Suddenly there was a noise in the hallway and a shuffle at the door. The knob turned and a women frantically ran in.
"Chase I got your textt-!" She suddenly stopped and stared at Hector.
The women was Kira! Her face was frozen as she stood there staring speechless. Hector quickly turned and did the same. They both stood there frozen for quite some time, unable to make any farther movement. Kira's laptop back fell to the floor and she ran towards Hector. He threw his arms open and then embarrassed each other.
She had no clue what was happening at the moment. Her fiance was supposed to be dead. But here he stood, living and in the flesh. She had lost herself in the moment, and now, his arms.
-End of chapter 4-
Comment:
Ok, this chapter took A LOT longer to finish then I had planed. I was busy cleaning up the previous chapter and taking my time to complete this one. With very little time to write, and without a laptop, it's hard to get it all done.
I plan to finish part one of the book (About half way), and if people like it enough, I'll start part two =].
What will happen in the next chapter?: Hector, Kira and Chase talk more, unraveling more of the story. And maybe an epic battle! You'll just have to wait and see! =D See you next time
