The Fifth Step

The Fifth Step

A Poem by Wolfwind
"

There will always be endings left with hope and faith that new directions do exist.

"

One step, two steps

The third step vanishes

A fourth step taken

Why not, all is forsaken

What was once, is now only memory

An echo filling the chill air

Haunting these Northern Mountains

Perhaps a dream, perhaps a vision

Failure upon life’s walk

 Anothers decision

A wondering heart, banished

Future’s rhyme

Vanished

A howl consumed by the fading Sun

A lonely soul, half full

Sitting, pondering, wondering why

A sky that had been so warm

Now darkened, a winter’s chill embracing

Memories buried in the snow

The mourning, coming to rest

Eyes focusing on what’s ahead

The fifth step

Where ever it may lead

Life has many steps it seems. Birth..sickness..loss...coping..moving forward. I'm sorry that you seem so saddened in this poem. Strikes my heart with the quick fisted emotion of each line. They feel as though it's a constant pumeling of jabs.. just as sudden as they hit, the fists disappear and you're left wondering what you did to start the fight. The bruises left behind tilt your world leaving a heart forever changed. Letting those memories buried, visiting upon occasion, remembering a strength from within breaking through refocusing one's mind brings you to the:

"The fifth step

Very powerfull message we all could tap into every so often. Very moving piece :)

I really like this poem as I can feel the emotion in the words, you have really made it come alive. I feel as though in this poem there is a sadness to leave the past behind which is understandable because the past is something we are familiar and comfortable with but if we dwell in it too long it it can become almost empty like "an echo filling the chill air". However there is also longing to move forward and take "the fith step".
You should be very proud as it is a beautiful and relatable poem.

The mountains hold such a strong energy of their own that sometimes it's like a reflection into our own souls.. time to sit back..reflect and move forward based on what answers our hearts give us.. That fifth step..hmmm ..x

Nice work. There is always that third step; the one we missed.
