Solitary Echo

Solitary Echo

A Poem by Wolfwind

Deep woods, a winter’s sanctuary

Solemn thoughts, amidst solitude’s grace

Snow, ever quiet and tranquil, calm, a frozen oasis

Inner thoughts held sacred, behind watchful eyes

Pondering, musing, an endless cycle flows

What had been, the season’s passing

Locked within crystals frozen reflections

Memories upon refracting light

The future, within the dampness of spring, slumbering

The frost holding fast to lucidity, times marching, benign

Patient silence, a journey yet trodden

All around, a lonely cadence of echo

A lone wolf waits beyond the living’s scent

A shadow forgotten

The great hunt, yet to come

You described that picture with such detail. He looks like he's waiting for his mate to find him. Picking the best spot within the trees and fallen snow. This poem felt like when a violinist strokes his strings, bringing music as he plays. The breathing words like an up stroke inhales and exhales as he drags his bow down across its strings again. I love this piece very much. Thinking can be lonely and a seemingly endless song of the mind. Wonderful write :)

I really do like the imagery in this. I also like the way you have structured the verses.

Verses one and three appealed particularly. The way you described silence and solitude was quite masterful.

Excellent work here.

How can you breathe quiet through these noisy stand alone words, and even yet make the noise quiet creates glow too....
Great, great write. Thank you

You capture winter in all her glory, and her silence, all of life waiting for her passing. Beautifully done.
