The Last Walk - ClosureA Poem by WolfwindA chill breeze, coursing through the dense forests The Great Northern Woods creaking, high in their evergreen arms Snow to come soon was a thought upon the wind The Great Wolf knew, understood and was calm Treading quietly, only a shadow of a sound His blue eyes, piercing the fog Walking ever onward Blending, a subtle motion upon the ground The Great Wolf’s fur, warming even against the gusts Aware of every scent, alteration and change This was his domain and he knew it well Catching a difference upon a southerly breeze He let out a soft growl of warning Moving forward still, calmly he continued Crossing a wide log upon a swift creek He turned and stopped, prepared The sweet scent of her fur came first Then the minute sounds of paws crunching The frost covered grass, like dry twigs A motion across the creek The Great Wolf met the Coyote’s brown eyes His own never wavering His feet not moving from where he blocked the log The rushing waters below now a wall Slowly sitting the Great Wolf let out a soft growl Dangerous to be this far away from your beloved desert, Coyote Choosing not to address her by her spirit name, he waited Silence permeated, the waters raging below, the only sound A lowering of a head, the Coyote’s eyes gazed downward It was a chance I needed to take The Great Wolf growled A chance that even as you stand there is inspiring your own deception You made your choice long ago under the burning suns Times are now changed The mornings and rays of the Luna’s grace sing a different tune
Continued the Great Wolf to sit upon the far shore The winds coursing upon the Coyote’s nose the scent Anger and pain within the Great Wolf was strong I know of the lies and emotions shattered on the sands I know the fur that I rubbed the wrong way each day Yet even as the great river still flows along its crème colored banks So does a part of my heart still beat for you deeply inside Echoes upon trees, swaying softly upon in the winter air, faded Bared fangs marked the ire of the Great Wolf Rising a head above all in the forest, he stood Heart you say? Beating yet still! You’re pain is your own bringing upon thy emotional maze! Is this some sick jest that you flow now out from your tongue? You, who tore others hearts out for your own whim and game! Brown eyes wavered, an understanding was deeply known Thunder rumbling a ponderous rain sang upon a near ridge A little leap forward, Coyote feet came upon a logs edge The change of roads walked is impossible Know this I do Yet still, I’m not balanced I need peace! I’m not a strong as you! That is…. That is why I did love thee… You saved me when I was weak You were the light that gave my spark strength! Please help me find that peace… That closure to let my past find rest…
A circle sauntered the Great Wolf’s paws did make A glare across a creek filled with wrathful waters Wind came with rain upon its pelting embrace Then closure you shall have… A kick, shoved with strength and resolution A splash and log swallowed within the torrents below When you can face your own inner spark When your demons are crushed by your own paws When the waters reflection holds, who you wish to be Then will you have your peace Fur ruffled in wind, the storm upon the forest like a spring flower The Great Wolf turned, vanishing, swallowed by his world An echo… Do not return here Mystic… © 2013 WolfwindFeatured Review
