A Chapter by Wolfwind
"

Lily Shadowflame intervenes and saves a fellow classmate from a unsanctioned duel by an unknown stranger clad in black.

"

Lily could hear the battle before she could see it. The clang of swords dancing their mamba of death rang down through the valley as she quickly sprinted towards it. Her black cloak billow quietly as her quiet feet found each step with the precision of a fourth year shadow caster.

Drifting silently to stop behind a large fir tree she was able to see the flashing of both steel meeting steel, as well as the glow of battle sorcery. One of the men she recognized. He was known to her as Granwell, a 6th year battle blade with 4 levels of battle magic as well. But as her eyes gazed across the way at the other, Lily did not recognize him.

“An unsanctioned fight,” She whispered to herself, on her turf no less. “That pisses me off.”

Continuing to watch the battle unfolding between the groves of trees ahead of her within the narrow valley, she could see that Granwell was soon to be on the loosing end of the fight. Sighing, Lily new she would have to intervene before Granwell fell. He was from her school after all.

Finding the appropriate moment she moved in a blurr of speed, casting a powerful wall of bluish force between the two Granwell, who was now on one knee, his long sword ready to block the strangers next attack.

Lily expected to feel the jarring sensation in her mind as steel met magic, but it never came. Through the nimbus of energy, she could see the stranger simply standing calmly, his sword having been re-sheathed. “He’s a fast one.” Lily thought to herself.

Granwell staggered to his feat. “You should be here Lil,” His voice tired and grumbling.

“It was either I stop this now, or I’d have to carry your life spark back to school to have it resurrected in the morning. I doubt Marvius would be all too pleased.” Lily continued to keep on eye on the stranger who remained motionless twenty yards away, “Who is this guy, anyway?”

“Don’t know. He came out of nowhere and challenged me on my way home from football practice.” Granwell replied, sliding his sword back into its sheath on his back.

Both Lily and Granwell flinched as the man blurred and was suddenly only several feet in front of them.

Staring directly into Lily’s eyes, he spoke. “I’ll let this go this time. But I advise you not to get in the way in the future. It could be deadly.”

Lily felt a shiver run down her spine. The stranger’s eyes had seemed to glow a gold color as he had spoken. “Who are you?” She braved a question.

The man, dress in all in black, with a hooded cloak that covered his hair shrugged and spoke while beginning to walk away. “You’d die standing where you are if I told you.”

Lily shivered again as the man ended in a soft menacing chuckle, which echoed in her ears. She watched him walk about ten yards away and then vanish in a nimbus of crimson sorcery.

Spinning toward Granwell, “What the hell were you thinking, accepting a challenge from a Dark Battle Blade,” Her eyes glaring at her fellow classmate.

“Is that what he was? Sheesh, that explains allot. I couldn’t get any of my normal special moves to work on the guy and he countered pretty much every battle spell I had.”

“You’re lucky my shadow spells are made to repel higher levels.” Lily sighed, “Come on, let’s get back to town. I’ve still got to study for my math exam tomorrow.”

Aiden watched from the top of the valley ridge as the two he had just left walked back towards the glow of the near by town. A grin slowly crept up. “Soon, Lily you too will become part of my plan. Whether you wish to or not.” The man’s eyes danced with golden energy as he laughed.

Hmmm...Sarah Maycroft and The General ... though this bad boy is still alive. I like this story..has that old world with the swords..but future avenue with resurrecting sparks..and blurring speed of the evil one. Dasterdly fiend and steadfast companion with the tiny champion between. Hmmm...yep she's definately one of your created spunky fighting females. (you have a knack for them you know...very endearing girls they are...with companions who match them in every sense of that particular word) Can't wait to see what happens next. BTW--Shy has been pondering atop that bluff lately..she may visit you soon ;)
