Voyagers Prayer

Voyagers Prayer

A Poem by Wolfwind

Drift well with the tides, Oh midnight voyager
Waves shall be calm as my wings are shelter
Take ye this light luck as tidings upon the soul
May ye find your treasure and return with vigor

Fear ye not of those upon the loving shore
Luna's light shall sing to them of sure calm
Your kin shall be hearty upon homecoming
Of their truest champion, the hero of tales

Go now in good will, oh sacred sea sailor
Your bounty is sure to be great and grand
Blessings many you shall receive at sea
So that you may come full circle to glee

I like prayers in the old style. I also like how important the moon is in this poem. While the speaker wishes them good luck, the moon sings to make sure their voyage is calm. The moon controls the tides and will bring them safety. This kind of connection to the earth shows that this prayer draws upon the energy of the universe that dwells within all things. I liked this quite a bit.

This one should be read before each submarine (or ship of course) takes to the sea for a 6 month or longer voyage. I have a mind to mention that...they should all carry as many blessings as one can pack within the ships haul for protection against Mother Nature, wayward vessels, human error (as my loved one is well aquainted with) or the occasional breakdown in mechanics. (not every piece is lifetime warrantied) That image is stunning...especially as just her fingertip is reaching out to just softly grace that mighty vessel...that's all it takes from one Angel. (a small protection given in the gentlest of ways) Stunning image... :)

I can picture this being said on the ship before it sails.. an incantation in a sense of protection and prayer... I love the blessings coming full circle..xo
