Duality Destiny - Part 2 - Shopping and the new girl's accidentA Chapter by WolfwindJenn and Jenny head to the mall, only to watch a classmate get hit by a car!Jenn and Jenny didn’t waste any time pushing through the main doors from the high school a few moments after the last bell rang. “He’s just way too real for me.” Jenny shivered, speaking about their new Physics teacher. “I know…” Jenn replied, brooding. Something was off about the man, but she couldn’t quite figure it out. Like a word on the edge of the mind, the tongue couldn’t touch it. Seeing Jenn deep in though, Jenny tried to lighten up the mood. “Hey sis? You want to go to the mall? They’ve got a few things on sale I wanted to take a look at and…” She let the and stretch out, “Tommy Mono told me today in 5th period that they have a first addition copy of episode 1 of Super Cow.” Jenn’s eyes darted to her twin, pausing in her step and then grinned cheesily, “What are we waiting for!” Grabbing Jenny’s hand they sprinted down the side walk, giggling like crazy girls. A few blocks later with a few blocks still left to go, the twins slowed to a walk again. Jenn looked over at Jenny, “You get a chance to meet the new girl? The one with really, really blue eyes and almost white hair?” Jenny
nodded, “Yeah, Allison. She’s in 6th period with me. I guess she
just moved in from Jenn raised an eye brow, “How do ya figure?” “Didn’t you see her shoes?” Jenny spoke, eyes wide! “They had to have been worth over a hundred dollars from Macy’s!” Jenn shook her head, “Sorry, I tend not to look at another girl’s shoes. Shoes are shoes. They serve a purpose and that’s all they need to do.” Jenny glanced down at Jenn’s simple sneakers, “I guess I never really noticed how simple you dress.” Jenn patted her sister on her shoulder, “Its okay Jenny. It’s never really mattered to me. You have always been the one with picky tastes in attire.”
The screeching of car tires caused the twins to look down the lane. They both began running towards the source as they saw the new girl Allison get hit by the car, while she was crossing the street on her bike. “Oh my God,” Both Jenn and Jenny exclaimed as they watched Allison fly from her bike and tumble along the sidewalk, her bike being crushed under the station wagon. With their feet moving quickly, they ran up to the scene as the driver of the car leaned down to see if the girl was okay, exclaiming how sorry he was and he didn’t see her. Jenn slid to a crouch next to the girl, “Allison? Are you okay? Where does it hurt?” Jenny shot a glare at the driver, “Don’t just stand there num-nutz! Call 911!” “No, it’s okay. I’m alright.” Allison spoke softly, checking herself over. “Are you sure?” Jenn inquired, not believing someone could be okay after a tumble like what she had witnessed. “I think you should go to the ER just in case.” “No. I’m fine.” Allison slowly got to her feet and brushed the dirt from her jeans and shirt. “See. No damage done.” Looking at the driver, “I’m sorry I didn’t see you coming too.” The driver breathed a huge sigh of relief and flipped his phone closed. “As long as you’re sure you’re okay?” Allison nodded, “Yeah. I’m good.” Jenny’s subconscious eye for fashion eyed Allison over. It caused her to frown. ‘Something’s not right Jenn.’ She voiced into her sisters thoughts through their telepathic connection. Jenn gave Jenny a quick glance in question. ‘Allison’s cloths aren’t even torn. No threads even out of place. That’s not normal.’ Jenn gave Allison a friendly and relieved smile while taking a closer look at the new girl. Jenny was right, no damage whatsoever. “I’m glad you weren’t hurt Allison.” She spoke. “Yeah, me too,” The girl grinned relieved. “I guess all those years in gymnastics actually paid off.” Allison let an infectious smile and her laughter brighten the moment. All three teenage girls watched as the driver of the station wagon got back into his car and drove off. They could all see that Allison’s bike was beyond salvage. “Guess I’ll be walking to and from school from now on,” Her voice carrying with it an unsettling tone of indifference. Jenn and Jenny eyed each other, quickly figuring out what they must do. Jenn positioned herself in front of Allison, while Jenny stood behind. Jenn was about to ask her about her clothing and the tumble, but didn’t get the chance as a black dodge charger with tinted windows drove up and a large will dressed and physically fit man got out. The man took a glance at the damaged bike and then turned to Allison. “Learn a lesson from all this kiddo?” Allison grabbed here school bag, which had been spared any damage, and walked towards the car. “Yeah, I guess I did.” She spoke to her father, giggling. Before she closed the passenger door all the way, she turned back and waved at Jenn and Jenny who were left without words, “Thanks for being there for me! I’ll see you at school tomorrow!” The twins watched as Allison and her father drove away. “What are they odds? Ya think.” Jenn spoke matter of fact to Jenny. “What odds!” Jenny turned to look concerned at her sister, “There is no scientific way that, one, she could have taking the tumble without a scratch or damage to her clothes and two, did you see how her father didn’t give a rats a*s about her bike and she just laughed when she got in the car!” Jenn felt a shiver run down her spine and laughed off the thought as she spoke it, “Sounds like us sis!” Jenny’s head darted to look at Jenn as Jenn’s eyes grew a bit wider. “You don’t think…” Jenn voiced. Both the girl’s eyes followed the road, down which the charger had driven, “That she might have super-fabulistic and amazing powers too?” Jenny finished her sister’s sentence. The twins looked back at each other for a moment and laughed out loud, “No way!” Jenn hooted, “She’s way too nice at school.” “Yeah,” Jenny laughed. After a few minutes, the twins regained their composure and continued walking towards the mall. The girls split up for a while once at the mall. Jenny headed off to the fabric store and Jenn headed to the comic shop.
Jenny held a full plastic bag from Joann’s as she came up on Jenn who was sitting on a mall bench, completely engrossed in her comic. She smiled and shook her head, having never really understood what her sister found so funny about a cow with super powers. Jenn shot a friendly glare at her sis, having heard the others thoughts, “It’s hilarious!” “That’s great! Come on, let’s get on home.” Jenn forced her self to close the comic and put it back in the bag, “You get what you were looking for?” “Yep,” Jenny smiled. Jenn raised an eye brow, “Just what were you looking for anyway?” Jenny giggled and began walking ahead of her twin. “It’s a surprise!” Jenn took a few quick steps to fall in beside her sister, “No hints?” “Nope,” Jenny grinned. Jenn rolled her eyes as the two headed out of the mall’s main entrance and began their 5 block walk back to their home. © 2012 WolfwindFeatured Review
