Duality Destiny - Part 1 - Becoming RealA Chapter by WolfwindIn this latest episode, Ifer finds her focus and takes the name of Jenny. Jenn and Jenny begin a new existence and come face to face with the Reality that might play into their future. It was Sunday the 16th of September. The warm sun still beat down upon the garlic fields as Ifer walked by herself, her thoughts mulling over many things. She had invited Jenn to walk with her, but her opposite self was engrossed in her latest copy of Super Cow, her favorite comic series. “Why can’t any people but the demons and monsters we fight see me?” Ifer mused. “The animals can see me. I can feel the wind upon my face and in my hair. I can open doors and move things in the world just like a real person. So why can’t they see me?” “Maybe I just don’t have enough faith in myself?” She pondered as she continued up the street and turned onto another of the small town’s roads. “Maybe I should try to focus more.” She thought. Ifer began repeating to herself. “See me, see me.” Over and over she continued focusing on her being real. So engrossed she was in the process, she barely side stepped Jenn’s brother. “Sorry.” She whispered. “Since when do you wear dresses Sis?” Her brother had stopped and was giving her a look of question. Ifer stopped in her tracks. Slowly turning to face the young boy, “You can see me?” She asked as her eyes widened. Her brother rolled his own eyes, “Well, ya, duh.” He shrugged and turned to continue walking to his friend’s house, “Oh, glad you survived your argument with the parents.” A shiver went down Ifer’s spine, “Argument?” Her brother was already out of ear shot, when she turned and sprinted down the lane back to the house. “Jenn! Hang on, I’m coming!” She shouted as she ran.
Jenn stood back against the living room wall, between the piano and the bookshelves. “Jenn, this fantasizing of yours has to stop.” Her father spoke firmly. “The school says that you’ve been living class at odd times and I’m concerned.” “Jenny, I know life can be hard, but living in some delusional universe with demons and bad people around every corner of the school isn’t healthy.” Her mothers voice ground through Jenn’s soul like a knife. “Guys! There’s nothing wrong with me!” Jenn spoke back emphatically. “Ya, there’s been some issues, but I’ve been working through them.” “I think it’s best if you see the therapist again.” Her father spoke solemnly. “No! She’s a…” Jenn held back the derogatory truth, realizing her parents weren’t going to believe her anyway. “It’s for the best honey.” Her mother agreed with her father. Ifer rounded the corner and ran up the concrete walkway, taking the houses front steps two at a time. She threw the front door open, letting it crash against the wall. “Jenn! Are you alright?” She asked worriedly, seeing her opposite standing in front of their parents. Jenn’s eyes shot up to look at Ifer who had just slammed through the door. Ifer looked to their parents who turned to look at the door swinging back closed from the recoil of hitting the wall. Ifer closed her eyes and concentrated, “See me! See me! I am real too!” “What are you doing?” Jenn blurted out loud to Ifer. “Who are you talking too Jenn?” Her father asked, very much concerned. Her mother simply turned from Jenn and looked towards the door and then back to her daughter…then back to the door, a look of confusion on her face. “See Me! See Me!” Ifer continued to focus. Jenn could see her opposites aura begin to glow a bright white.
Then in a split second, life changed for everyone in the room. Their mother’s eyes grew wide as Ifer become visible, “Oh my God…” She whispered seeing a twin to her daughter appear out of thin air. Their father followed their mother’s words and stared, his eyes going back and forth between the two Jenn’s. “I am real!” Ifer spoke powerfully, “Jenn is not insane! She never has been! I’ve been with her from the day we were born!” Jenn was at a loss for words, her entire existence, everything she was used to and how life ticked, had just changed. She glanced at her mom who was beginning to cry. Their mother covered her eyes with her hands and spoke through sniffling back tears, “There was supposed to be two. My first ultrasound showed two. Then when I went back for the second one, there was only one.” Jenn’s mouth opened a bit in shock, “Twins?” She looked over at Ifer, “So you’re not just my other half. You’re my sister.” Ifer smiled and walked up to her mother, placing a hand on her shoulder. “Mom, I know it’s going to take some getting used to.” Then looking over to Jenn, she grinned, “Jenn?” “Ya?” “I don’t want to be called Ifer any more.” “Ifer?” Their father spoke confused. “Oh, okay. What do you want you’re name to be?” Jenn asked her twin. “Jenny. You’re Jenn and I’ll be Jenny.” Jenny smiled. Jenn rolled her eyes, “Okay, as long as mom calls you that and not me!” She laughed. The two sisters gave the other a hug and stood side by side, both looking down at their parents who still sat on the couch. Their father shook his head, “Can someone please tell me what’s going on, something that actually makes sense.” Their mother placed a hand on her husband’s knee, “Well honey, you have another daughter. Call it a miracle if it makes you feel better.” She smiled. He paused momentarily and looked from his wife to Jenn and Jenny. “Oh great, that means I’m going to have to completely re-do the taxes!” Jenn and Jenny couldn’t help but laugh. They both smiled at each other then exclaimed at the same time, “Oh no! What about school!”
As it turned out the issue of school and the addition of Jenny to the roster was solved by a very ingenious mother. Their mom simply called up and told them she was enrolling Jenn’s twin who’d been away studying abroad. They bit story, hook line and sinker so when Monday morning came, both Jenn and Jenny walked up the front steps of their high school, together, too many stares of wonder and curiosity. The later they simply shared a secret chuckle about. They shared second period together, Physics. As they took their seats a new teacher walked into class and wrote his name on the board. He turned to the class with a grin, his cold grey eyes piercing through the lenses of his dark rimmed glasses. “Good morning class. I’m Professor Real. I hope to be able to get to know each and everyone one of you real well. We’ll be learning about Physics this semester. Does anyone know what physics is all about?” Without letting anyone answer, he smirked, “Physics is about real things. It’s about Reality. It’s everywhere and you can’t get away from it.” He finished with a slight chuckle. Jenn snuck a glance at Jenny two seats over. A look that spoke a thousand words, ‘This guy is evil!’ To Be Continued… © 2012 WolfwindFeatured Review
