Dr. Mathmodicus and the Internal ConflictA Chapter by WolfwindPart 1 of 2 starts off as Jenn and Ifer deal with the complications of killing an agent of the evil Dr. Mathmodicus. Will, they get away clean?Jenn looked down at the dead man, an agent of the evil Dr Mathmodicus for sure. She glanced over at her other self, Ifer who has sat down in shock, the smoking shot gun still in her hands. “You did good.” Jenn chuckled at her opposite self. “I killed a man! With my own hands!” Ifer spoke, breaking into tears, dropping the gun and burying her head in her hands. “You’ll get over it Ms. Goody two shoes. Now get over here and help me with the body.” Jenn crouched down and grabbed one of the man’s limp arms, then shot a glare back at Ifer. “Snap out of it! We’ve gotta get rid of the body before the teachers get here for the day!” Ifer looked up, sniffling, her eyes red from the tears. Slowly standing up she came and grabbed the man’s other arm. “What are we going to do with him? I’ve never had to hide a body before.” Jenn grinned and let out a soft laugh, “We’re going to take him to the principals office and sit him up in his chair. Then when the janitor gets in to unlock the school, we’ll club him over the head and put the gun in his hands.” It shocked Ifer how her other half’s mind could work out the details so easily. “You’re cruel!” Ifer spoke as a matter of fact, but continued to assist. “Cruel?” Jenn laughed, “You should talk. You were the one that shot him.” “I was trying to protect you!” Ifer argued. “Stow it Miss Rainbow bright. Work first, discussions later.” Ifer tossed the dead man’s arm down abruptly and put her fists on her hips, “Why do you have to call me all those names?” Jenn whirled, dropping the mans arm that she was holding on to and pulled her 9 mm Glock, pointing it at her other half, “So what if I do? What are you going to do about it? You are such a weak pansy!” Ifer took a few quick steps backward, having never seen Jenn so hostile towards her before. “I..I..” Ifer stammered and then glared and shouted, “No! I’m not going to take this from you any more!” Ifer summoned her courage and charged Jenn, who was caught off guard by her opposite’s actions. Bang! Clunk…Thump! Jenn’s finger twitched at the last moment before Ifer knocked the gun from her hand, where it clattered to the floor. The bullet sending plaster spraying as it hit the near by wall. “B***h!” Jenn shouted as she tried to shove Ifer away. Hearing another bad name, Ifer became even more resolved and swung her fist, clocking Jenn right on the jaw. Jenn spun and tumbled to the floor unmoving. “Oh my God,” Ifer exclaimed as she put a hand over her own mouth in shock. “Did I do that?” Her words a whisper in her mind as she looked down at her fist and then to her other half who lay unconscious on the floor. Stepping slowly towards Jenn, she crouched down and tapped her shoulder, “Jenn? Are you alright?” When Jenn didn’t respond, she felt for a pulse and was relieved that her other half was still alive. Then panic filled her as she shot a look at the man’s dead body which still lay upon the schools hall floor. “Oh no, what do I do?” Ifer stood back up and looked around, trying to figure out how to fix the mess, so that they wouldn’t get caught. A glance at one of the hallway clocks showed 4am. Only an hour remained before the Custodian would get in. Finally she looked back down at Jenn, realizing what had to happen. Ifer took a deep breath and jumped back into her other half’s body. With slight suction sound, they were again one. Jennifer moaned and started to rise, but half of her body was sluggish, for the Jenn half of her was still out cold. The Jennifer had never experienced coexistence without Jenn being awake. She could feel one side of her body feeling cold and empty. She knew she had to get moving so to take care of the dead man’s body, so she focused and stood up. After a few jerky steps, she realized that it would be harder than she expected. If any one were to see her know, they’d think she was a zombie by the way the left side of her body was dragging. Jennifer grabbed one of the legs of the dead man and began to drag him down the hall. She knew she couldn’t pull off Jenn’s original plan, so she decided to take the body down into the basement and toss him into the old furnace. It took Jennifer the better part of 30 minutes to accomplish her task. The clock on the furnace room wall read 4:45, she knew she had to hurry up. Summoning some of her amazingly stupendous power, she shot a bolt of flame into the furnace, and then closed the hatch, securing it with a turn of the wheel. “Okay, now to get out of here.” Stumbling and half crawling, Jennifer climbed the stairs and shuffled down the hall way to the back entrance where she’d originally come in. Slipping out into the cool morning air, she shivered and hobbled across the schools playfield and into the forested area on the other side. Jennifer sat down with her back against a tree and closed her eyes. With another suctioning sound, Ifer once again stood by herself, looking down at Jenn, who still was asleep. “I’m so sorry Jenn, I didn’t mean to hurt you this bad.” Ifer sat down next to her other half and curled her knees underneath her white dress. She knew that all she could do now was wait and hope that Jenn came to before class started. It wasn’t long though before the hair on Ifer’s arms began to crawl. Glancing up her heart skipped a beat as she saw the darkly clad figure of Dr. Mathmodicus himself come out of the school house and start marching towards where Jenn lay unconscious. Ifer knew he couldn’t see her, for she would be invisible to him, but Jenn was in plain sight. “Oh no… This isn’t good.” Ifer shook Jenn’s arm roughly, “Come on Jenn, you gotta wake up! Come on wake up please!” Dr. Mathmodicus grinned evilly as he saw what he had suspected from the start. His dark and ominous gaze fell upon Jennifer, Ms Duality herself. The Dr’s grin grew as he laughed, “This is going to be fun.” To Be Continued! © 2012 WolfwindFeatured Review
