GhostsA Poem by Màiri AndrusThis one just came to me one day demanding to be written down.
They glide silently through the shadows and over the snow.
Searching for the food that will help their young to survive.
Fur so soft and thick with moonlight glinting off their silver coats.
They pause to sniff the air; it is heady with the scent of caribou.
They lift their muzzles to the sky and sing their joy to the night.
Their little ones will not go hungry this night.
They bound forward anticipation and thrill of the hunt lending them speed.
Once again they glide silently through the shadows and over the snow.
