Winds of Fate

Winds of Fate

A Poem by Màiri Andrus
"

Written a year ago for a special man in my life about when we met 9 years before.

"

That first night we met, things seemed shiny and new.

I wasn’t looking for anyone, didn’t know that I would find you.

You were sitting in the corner, talking and laughing with others.

I had just arrived, unaware that I would be finding my other.

Emotionally battered and bruised, and mentally unwilling to risk.

But my soul knew and would demand to have you for the fix.

We spoke and talked of things, even some that come from the heart.

We went out for coffee and I felt like I’d been struck with a dart.

We both went home that night, not completely unaware.

That we would go again, with the hope of finding each other there.

We met yet again and this time we both knew.

You had asked the Fates to please bring someone to you.

The October winds were blowing, brining us together.

Little had we given thought to The Fates making it forever.
