YearningA Poem by Màiri AndrusRecently published in a friends local magazine lol. Written for my fianceThe air I breathe seems to stifle me, My heart catches in my chest. Just the thought of losing you tears at me, We haven’t been together long. Though we’ve been friends forever it seems, I can see your smile and hear your laughter. The feel of your hands upon my cheek, So gentle yet so strong; it’s easy for you To make me feel so damned weak. You say your love for me is strong, That you’ve wanted me for oh so long. So why am I afraid? I love you to the depth of my soul. Yet, I am uncertain and don’t know, Do you love me as I love you? I yearn to know that type of love, And hope that it is what you feel for me. We’ve both been hurt and danced that dance, Yet here we are trying again not letting it be. Only the Goddess knows what will come. I think she brought us together earth and water, Two to be made into one or both of us undone. Which do you think it will be?
