Kindred SpiritsA Poem by Màiri AndrusThis came to me early one morning, actually the words running through my head woke me up demanded to be written down. It's written in memory of Lucan and Clementine two artic wolves that used to reside at Wolf Haven Internation in Tenino WA
Wolves howling in the darkening forest,
Chills down the human spine.
What is it about these wondrous creatures that frighten man so?
We call their cousins mans best friend.
Is it that we see ourselves in them?
The way they care for each other and the gentle teaching of their young?
They speak to that wild place that is buried deep within us all.
Do not fear them for they are our brothers and sisters.
Our kin that remains wild and free.
Embrace them, honor them, respect them,
Love them.
