Heart Song

Heart Song

A Poem by Wolf's Ink
"

A response to "What If..." A Poem by Aifey Jayd

"
Would a prayer of such a dream
Be anything else but pure?
To want nothing less than a truer love
Than one that was forced to endure?

What if it was possible
To see past the rain and see the stars
To see past the lightning and through the clouds
And find out that love like that really isn't far?

Arms to hold you and keep you
While the hands will freely let go
Not out of want, pity, insecurity or spite
Just because, it is when, they know

Lips to sing and embrace with
To not scorn but guide and soothe
To whisper and laugh until the day cools
And warm the night for a lover's muse

The search is not far
Nor is the road to long
Just be still and close yourself to silence
And listen to your heart sing its lovely song.

Very very lovely and what a great last line...

Wow!! I really like this. Content wise, I love it, and it really touches me.

Technically speaking, my only criticism is that the phrases are sometimes a bit long, and it can become cumbersome. It might be possible to shorten a lot of the lines and make them even more potent.

Quite good, friend. :)
