Three Strings

Three Strings

A Poem by Wolf's Ink
"

Can you catch all the notes within this dark chord? I am aware that the last group of lines only has 3, there are two reasons for that, if you're willing to look.

"
What tell you, can I?
How the leaves will break the water's level?
And how my songs will end in a crescendo?
Tell me how this is all funny on tv
Tell me how I can fully see

How doubled my phrase can be on the fly
Every line, ever phrase of what I do
Falls short if not sadly impromptu
Under which I only can tell of this self inflicting hurt
Cadence's arrested for one law to abide to
Knowing that which I say and what I do

I can only do as much as permitted by "them."
Sour grapes, festering in their cru
Watching, waiting, steadily analytic
Reach out to pull my tongue after my teeth
On going criticism  without relent

Never speaking outright and forward as i wish to go
Going instead in cryptics that claw at my soul
Waiting for eyes to see a hidden message of two
I wish I wasn't so stupid to bow to these fears
That can only be done away when I look"past" "me"

How have I not done enough for you to be forced to run away?
Maybe I had done something right before, but now I don't know what to do
Except to pray to once more see that smile from you.
