Just Another Night

Just Another Night

A Poem by Wolf's Ink

Listening to the hum of a fan, singing lullabyes to a lonely manUnder a blanket that keeps in more cold than warmth
In a darkness that lets no stars in
Near a window where the sunshine can not begin

It is this collapsed room I untie my string, clasps, and chains
And fall back into the pieces I tried hard to keep together
Thankful that not a piece fell before hand
Thankful that today I had the strength to walk and stand

New threads and patches for when the alarm goes off
Starting this once more, as many times before
The voices echo in the small confines of my mind
Oh to have one near by that’s that’s external, how divine.

I pour my heart as ink onto papers
Painting across them with mental images that have no words
And crush them, crumble and toss them to the bin
For I have no need or reminders, and I don’t have many in interest of them

The summer’s cold has it’s hand on me
Letting me know that soon to sleep I shall go
To be consumed by dreamless sleep in forgotten lands
And curl up under a blanket of this lonely snow.
