Girl in A Cage

Girl in A Cage

A Poem by RockerChick
"

This poem is about a young scottish princess who was captured by the English, and was put in a cage in the middle of the town. She barely got food, and people cursed at her, and threw things at her. She was only 11 years old at the time. This poem I wrote

Girl in a Cage

Marjorice Bruce a young Scottish princess.

Her situation is not what she expected.

Her father rebels against a devious king.

No more will she smile, dance, and sing.

She is being hunted, for she is her father’s sole heir.

Never staying in one place, she is forced to flee.

She gets captured by enemy hands.

She is put in a cage in English land.

Cruel people call her names, taunt her.

She barely gets food her waist is but a hand’s span.

She has nothing not even the company of a friend.

She waits as the days of her life begin to spend.

Enduring cold, thirst, and the king’s torturous games, she must.

Be strong she must and do not falter.

She always remains hopeful and strong

Can she keep it up for long?

The king bring news of loved ones

He expects obedience in return

She is defiant to his wishes and she plays his game

Her unrelenting strength drives the king insane.

He tries more and more to crush her sprit

He tells her of loved ones dead

She looks into those evil black eyes

She wonders what is truth and what is lies

Soon she befriends a monk and some children

She is grateful to have people on her side

The king found out and whipped the poor monk

As she watched the scene her heart sunk

The king is furious with her

He orders all food and water to be cut off from her

She lies in her cage and is left to die

She doesn’t even have the strength to cry

The children try to give her food but they fail

The people see this injustice and start to rebel

The monks bring out a small meal

Marjorice can’t believe what she sees is real

The king is powerless now he can not stop his people

The monks bring her to a safe place and happiness she begins to see

She is taken care of and rejoices that she’s finally free

Not a very believable situation. Even though this princess was the enemy, she was still of the nobility (and femaie). Because of this, even if captured by the English, they would have treated her well and with respect.
