Chapter 15- Into the sunset
Trabon stood next to Shadow and
Crystal who watched intently as Luna finished her work. She scratched away with
her snall stone, showing the outlines of two wolves. and a towering destroyed
entrance to a forgotten tomb. “That’s supposed to be these two? You aren’t a
very good artist sis”. Trabon said jokingly. Luna turned and smirked at him.
“So this is your last one huh”? Crystal
said with a sigh. “I’m glad to say yes. It’s been many years of pondering the
past. But as I gained knowledge I increased my fear, my sadness. It’s time I
left this as a lesson to others rather than keep teaching”. She scratched in a
few more lines and muttered a few words, casting her magic over it. “The final
moments of Chanoue Stas and Lendro, and Mother Nature; all captured here”.
Shadow looked down. “She was a brave old wolf. I honor her”. “As do I, her
memory will live on in all of us”. Luna said setting the stone down. “Now what
will you two do”? Crystal
asked nudging the small little bat, Trabon. “Well, after so many years apart, I
believe it’s time Trabon and I went off together. To explore the world and see
all there is too see.” Trabon flew up over their heads. “I know I wasn’t the
nicest to you guys but… oh come here”! Trabon curled his wings over Crystal’s nose in an
effort at a hug then over Shadow’s nose. Crystal
laughed. “Thanks Trabon, it means a lot”. Shadow snorted. “It smells a lot too,
be sure to take a bath on your world tour”. Trabon laughed at this. And flew up
next to Luna hugging her. Shadow and Crystal
stood up passing along the wall and viewing all the paintings. One by one
entailing the events before their time and now to their time. “Seems like a
century ago I stepped in here and saw what Vladmir did”. Shadow sighed. “And
yet behind it all was Mother Nature’s father”. Shadow thought back to what
Chanoue had said. “We are all monsters”. He muttered. Crystal looked at him. “But nature does not
decide who we chose to be”. Shadow noticed another carving he had not seen
before. It was that of a wolf standing on its legs holding a humans hand in
it’s paw as both stood before the moon. “What is this carving mean, Luna”? Crystal turned around.
“Luna”? She was not in the cave. Shadow and Crystal ran outside to see the two flying
high into the sky; they turned back waving to them. “Goodbye”! They both called
down to the wolves. Shadow and Crystal
waved back. “Goodbye guys and good luck”! Shadow called out. Soon, the two bats
disappeared into the horizon into the orange and red sky; the sun slowly
dropping down over the ground. “So, where to next?” Shadow asked turning to Crystal. “I don’t know,
the adventure countinues on the road ahead, right”? She chuckled. Shadow
smiled. “Maybe our adventure has just begun”. Crystal hugged him smiling and the two wolves
began trekking down the riverside alongside the dipping sun; unaware of where
the road may take them.
Back in the cave hidden in the shadows below
the carving was written: We write our own futures, we meet the darkness with
our own destinies, whether we choose them or they choose us. And whether we
complete them or we abandon them is also our choice. I only hope the future I
see becomes true.
