Forlorn Lover

Forlorn Lover

A Poem by Wolfe Greytome
"

No idea where this one came from, just had the urge to write and this is what flowed through my pen.

"

My heart you've finally torn,

I now sit forlorn.

Do you deserve my scorn,

For the things you've done?

I now sit forlorn.

The ties we had are shorn,

Sliced by outright lies,

I now sit forlorn.

Others i'll try to warn,

Of your spiteful ways,

I now sit forlorn.

Like the rose's thorn,

You are beauty hiding pain,

I now sit forlorn.

I'll no longer sit and mourn,

My faith in Love shall be reborn.

Ohh, how I love that final line, "I'll no longer sit and mourn, my faith in love shall be reborn". So many poems I have read which are angry and stay angry right through the end, banishing love and trust forever. I like how the persona has the strength to put that sadness aside and allow him/herself to love again. It was a surprise, especially because of the repetition of "I not sit forlorn." Also, what an interesting rhyme scheme; consistent and appropriate. I now feel spurred to move on with my own love-life. :) Great work, write on!
