The Wolf's Nightly Cry

The Wolf's Nightly Cry

A Poem by Wolfe Greytome

The time is almost nigh,
For the wolf's nightly cry.

There is no reason why,
His voice rings till dawn,
The wolf's nightly cry.

Head lifted to the sky,
Filling lungs with air,
The wolf's nightly cry.

Not in the least shy,
He sings out his song,
The wolf's nightly cry.

I will forever try,
to hear it once again,
The wolf's nightly cry.

Provoking a contented sigh,
Is the wolf's nightly cry.

I've always idolised the wolf, however common or cliche it is, and it's howl has always strummed my heart strings, having only heard it a couple of times. There's always the pride in there, but it can hold so many different raw emotions. Your poem captures one of them in a wonderful way, through the ears of a person, and I appreciate that!

Amazing. I can almost hear the wolf's cry.
