When You Are Away

I rarely deal with Love as a topic for my poems. But when I do, I feel I do it well.

How I dreaded the day
That you went away.

I have nothing to say,
nor anyone to listen,
When you are away.

I seem completely fey,
to those in this society,
When you are away.

The world looks dark and grey,
a very dreary land,
When you are away.

Any price I would gladly pay,
If I could keep you from going away.
