MOON FLOWERS

MOON FLOWERS

A Poem by Wolf_Lord
"

Originally this was a song, but over time, it turned into much more. Also, I wrote it with 2 columns to a page which made it only 2 pages but the format wouldn't let me. Wolf ,'', ^@@^ ,'',

MOONFLOWERS

White petaled flowers

Blossom in the mid of night

To bathe in the silvery rays

Of the moons pure light

Their roots reach down

Into the sultry earth

They are seeking oneness

With their place of birth

Children of the moon rise up

Spread their night dark wings

As the children of the earth

Rise up from the ground and sing

They sing to the earth below

They serenade the velvet night

Quietly and gently they sing

In the soft and wispy light

These are the words they sing

***

Down beneath the waters deep

Lay myriad hordes of mysteries

Of pirates old and ladies fair

Long lost pieces of our history

Perhaps Atlantis lies under waves

Lost within the darkness grasp

Treasure to share in the future

Connection to our rumored past

Moonlight bathes the world

Glowing softness in the night

Growing sound does fill us up

Humming like a billion fireflies

The waters do a curious dance

Dance full of the moons delight

Grey waves race toward shore

Striving with all of their might

The world’s great tidal wind

Pushed by the water speaks

Heard from the lowest valley

Up unto the highest peaks

A message does it whisper

Listen to what it has to say

Try to remember it my child

In the coming light of day

***

Then a hush falls among them

Silence that is most profound

Night dark wings flutter gently

Sinking slowly to the ground

They bow now to the west

Their dance is now ended

Revering the pearly moon

Which is almost descended

Only silence fills its place

***

Children of the earth below

Night dark children of the moon

Despair the passing of it not

Nor let it lead you now to swoon

I beseech you child do not weep

Instead fall into gentle sleep

Dream my children as one race

Dream inside your special place

Dream as wolves thence do howl

Their velvet muzzles to the sky

For you do they morn the moons

The harvest moons fleeting cry

Sister moon has just now passed

Left her moon dust in our atmosphere

It is not an ending for she continues

To bathe the night dark hemisphere

So she really has not just gone down

She chases the sun now across the sky

On rare days she will catch brother sun

Giving chaste kisses as she passes by

This side of the world she passed

Shall greet the Suns warm embrace

For brother Sun too has his followers

Who worship him within his place

Yet the harvest moon is special

She favors us just once a year

Giving night dark children flight

And earth children songs so dear

So Children of the earth and moon

Lay down now their weary heads

Till the new formed harvest moon

Again rises up from its yearly bed

Shall the darkness grow then wings?

To dance to sister moons delight

The earth gives up her abundance

Her children mix then with the night

Gone is the strife between the two

For magic dust mixes with the air

Giving birth once more to children

Both of darkness and quite fair

The harvest moon shall rise again

Her orange dress to the world tell

The children of the dark and light

Dance and sing now to her spell

The farmers reap their just reward

Another year’s labor and toil spent

Ask them and they will tell this tale

Of what the harvest moon has sent

**********

Perhaps though you would like to see such wonders

See the darkness dance the earth sing of might

Just open your eyes and let your soul wander

As the moon flowers blossom in her pearly light

Blessed Be

hello, Wolf, welcome to writerscafe!
overall, I felt this was too long. It seemed like wolves were singing about the city under the sea. Then you explained how the moon moves and the sun, something about the harvest... my god, man!
Line 1: Flowers have pedals... like a bike? Spellchecker hates me two. 🚀
"Perhaps Atlantis *lies* under waves"

Dude this was awesome! I believe we had the same idea for this kind of story, you should read my story Romance of Sun and Moon, The First Eclipse. I talk about flowers too but they are both Moon and Sun flowers. you should read it and see how much alike our writing was. LOL. by the way, there are poems wayyyyy longer than this, I don't know what mattavelli was talking about. Keep it up.

"The world’s great tidal wind
Pushed by the water speaks"

This means something I yet want to decode. I like it! Awesome!

this poem is very amazing. i really like the title because im all basically obessed with the moon especially in terms of its lore and mythology associated with it. i love how this poem has a smooth flow . the imagery in this is basically breathing imagery into the poem that it just oozes it just by reading and i love it. gonna favorite this one because of how much i love it and how it is greatly written.

Wow this is wonderful. I enjoyed the 'epic poem' style it for me was more of a cluster of moments becoming one story. I enjoy your diction and rhythm. I can't wait to read more of your work! Thank you for sharing this.
