One Bottle Down... How many more??

One Bottle Down... How many more??

A Poem by Starr
"

What can I do to forget you?

"
One Bottle Down. How many more before I forget you?
Please baby
Why did you leave?
Why can't I forget you?
Is it because I still love you?
Or is it because you still love me?

Two Bottles Down. How many more before I forget you?
I am getting a little uneasy here
The memories keep flooding in
I can't seem to forget you
Do I still love me?
Do you still love you?

Three Bottles Down. How many more before I forget you?
The world is spinning now
The memories won't leave me
Your face covers everything
Do I still love you?
Do you still love me?

Drowning sorrows, but each time, a more insistent voice asks the questions. The bottles should be an escape- but no- instead, they just catalyze more desparation. I like the second stanza with the twist: do I still love me, do you still love you- communicates an interesting off-kilter self-reflection. You'd have to pass out next, not to ask those questions again, highlights perhaps why the bottles keep coming- as long as there is wakefulness, there are the questions that are haunting. Interesting write.

All the answers are in the bottle. When the questions return, the bottle retorts. Like it.

Thanks so much!!!!!!!! And i agree!
Really enjoyed this one. Really captures how we look for an escape, and even if it does work for a bit, everything we were trying to run from finds us again.

I tried the booze to forget. Only worked for a second.
