Guardian Angel Please

Guardian Angel Please

A Poem by Starr
"

I need one, never had one, no I won't pray at all

"
The life I am living
It makes me feel I am not thriving
I need a Guardian Angel

My breathes are shallow in this hospital bed
I can't see the light
I tried to fight
I wanted to lose this war

I thought that death
Was something to greet
On my own terms
I didn't speak
I just went along

I need a Guardian Angel
Come save me
Take me away from here
I don't need this
It is my nightmare

Please take me away
Take me to the skies
Where the sun always shines

Take me to the skies
Where sadness doesn't hide
It's always bright

Take me to the heavens
Where my life is an eleven
I rule there by my own rules
No one controls me

Take me to the skies
Oh
Those white clouds never hide

Take me the skies
Where the days are light
Oh
Light up the heavens
With the joy of love

Make the common place
Look like a deserving race

Make the heavens praise
I need a Guardian Angel

I am lying here
No I am not praying
I don't need to
Take me away

I look through the window
There lies a white dove
Hey take me away

I close my eyes
The darkness smiles

"I will take you away
You were born in the wrong time
In the wrong place
It's ok now
You are going home
Where you want to go"

Let the heavens praise
I am coming home

No more saving grace
I have my race

Here in heaven
My saving race

I'm writing this review as if you are the voice that speaks this, but I understand you could be representing someone else's experience.
This poem opens my heart to you, understanding so much of what the poem speaks. The feeling that there is a place where you belong, that a guardian angel can fly you there, away from the world here as it is. And I do love the joy that comes when there is a feeling that you can be released. The theme of not being controlled is also so strong- the desire to play by your own rules. The rules here are unfair, or bind your soul- they are alien. Trying to find escape in death- whether physical or spiritual death- is a theme I resonate with. I too long for a heaven of beauty and peace removed from this world that has so much ugliness in it. An intense poem with many emotions and ideas opened for the reader to contemplate.

When death is near. We need to know peace. I liked the flow of thoughts leading to strong ending. Thank you Starr for sharing the excellent poetry.

You did well and you are welcome.
I really like this poem! It has a dark yet light feel to it. I think that's rare occurrence in poverty. It's usually one or the other. It comes across to me as sort of "one man's fear is another man's wish." Some people fear death but others welcome it. I don't think that was the way you intended it come across but that's how it resonated with me. Lovely poem.
