Daniel Caesar

Daniel Caesar

A Poem by Wolf Towne

At one time, my favorite artist
Now, I can no longer enjoy his art, that is
I can't help but think of her
It reminds me of a time I deserve
When I was happier than ever before
But karma was approaching my door

One night in particular sticks out in my brain
A night encompassed by rain
It was the first time we made love
You down below and I was above
Actually, it was early in the morning
After you were whisked to jail without warning

I remember a passionate kiss
With handcuffs around your wrists
I knew I’d get you out quickly
But still, I was so worried
You were still living with your ex-boyfriend
A bad man; he had drugs and money and guns

We slept in your space
The next morning, we moved you to my place
And Daniel Caesar provided the soundtrack to this moment
But disaster awaited, you didn't know what 'home' meant
He was there to witness our short-lived fire
So I just can't listen to him, I don't have the power

You might have an abandonment complex.

Never turn away from that which makes you feel bad. The good becomes cheaper that way.
