Little Kasai Boy

Little Kasai Boy

A Story by Demon King
"

I've always liked was intrigued by the story of "The Little Match Girl" and wanted to write my own version with a much more dark ending. I hope you enjoy it and would love to get some feedback!

"

The dark unforgiving winter wind blew as a poor boy stood on the corner of a street trying to sell some matches. "Please won't you buy some of my matches!" The young boy shouted but none ever turned their heads. As the winds grew colder the boy's stomach began to growl but he knew that if he returned home his father would punish him for not selling any matches and he wouldn't be able to eat anything. The last time the boy ate anything was when his mother was still alive. The young boy's mother had passed away five days ago to a disease had stricken her and with little money they couldn't afford to take her to a doctor, and after she departed from the world is when the boy's father turned mean and his heart became just as cold as the winds that blew. Looking around the boy saw nobody, it seemed everyone went home on this chilly night so he left the street corner looking down into the basket of unsold matches he picked one up and lit it. He sat down on the steps outside his home, he figured things would be alright as long as he didn't enter the house. Holding the flame close to him to keep warm, he then saw his mother's face and saw some of his most happiest memories being entranced by the flames the boy forgot all about his hunger.

He then saw the flame instantly vanish, he then felt something grab him by his shirt and was then hoist into the air. "You haven't sold a single match in the last three days and waste them on yourself!" A dark voice snarled. The boy was then sent flying and landing hard on the ground, when he looked up he saw his father standing in front of the door. "I'm sorry father but nobody wants to buy matches anymore, and I was freezing I thought if I used one it wouldn't hurt." His father walked towards him and kicked him "Your weak and spineless no wonder why you can't sell anything! If your mother was around she'd be so disappointed in you. She's lucky to have died and left behind a weak boy like you I wish I could leave you to!" His father then stomped on him and walked back to the house. The boy stayed laying on the ground crying as blood dripped from his nose and lips. He knew that his mother loved him, it was his father that hated him, his father always wanted a son but a son who took after him. A strong and scary wielder, but what he got was a son who took after his mother someone kind and caring the opposite of his father's ideals. But that was then, the boy had forgiven his father plenty of times but this time he had enough of his father's abuse, he grabbed a pack of matches and ran off. He waited for the late hours of night when he knew his father would be asleep and came back and quietly opened the door. He looked around and saw nothing, he then tip toes over to a drawer in the kitchen where he knows his father keeps all the money. He quietly opens it and retrieves some coins enough to buy a loaf of bread, he then see's on the table a bottle of alcohol he grabs it and dumps the contents on the floor. He then pulls out a match, lights it and tosses it onto the floor. He then lights another one and tosses it on the stairs and one on the couch. He then races out and lights a few more and tosses them around the house.

Eventually the entire house was engulfed in flames and as the boy watched he felt a heavy weight being lifted off of him as though the flames were also burning away all his suffering. The boy then heard people yelling and made his escape running into a dark alley. The next day the boy returned to the house munching on a loaf of bread and overheard two women walking by say "I heard that the man who lived here didn't make it out alive." and the other responded "I also heard that it wasn't it an accident, that they found burnt matches around the place." The boy took another bite and was about to walk away when he felt a hand on his shoulder when he turned and looked he saw the town police. "Would you happen to be Zac Kasai?" The boy nodded "Well then I need you to come down to the station for some questions." The cop then took the boy down to the station and had him sit in a windowless room. "So tell me Zac why was your father alone on the night of the big house fire and where were you?" The boy looked so scared and frightened but answered "My father was alone because he wouldn't let me in the house, he wouldn't let me in unless I sold some matches. But I didn't sell any so he beat me and then stormed back into the house. I laid in the snow bleeding and crying then ran off." "Tell me Zac how old are you?" the boy replied "I'm ten". A sad look passed over the cops face, "Zac we have eye witnesses that place you at the time of the fire broke out did...." Before the cop could finish the boy interrupted "Yes I was the one who did it, I lit the house my father was in on fire and I don't regret a thing he was a vile man who deserved to suffer the flames of hell."

The officer looked down and spoke "I don't blame you boy, you suffered so much that you snapped but unfortunately I have to arrest and take you in." He then lead the boy out of the room and in a few days the boy stood before a judge claiming his reasons but in the end the boy was found guilty and his fate decided, he would suffer capitol punishment he would have to die the same way he killed his father by fire. The next day tons of people gathered in the town center, the boy was tied up on a wooden pole tears streaming down his eyes, he once again heard someone speak "that poor boy he suffered so much all his father ever did was punish him for nothing." a few other people said something similar and before the executioner did anything the boy shouted "You all knew! You all knew what happened to me and you did nothing! You all saw me suffer and did nothing to help! One Day I will have my vengeance on this world I will make sure that this whole planet suffers for it's unjust ways!" The executioner then lit a match and threw it on the pile of wood. Eventually the boy was engulfed in flames both his body and soul burned and the towns people watched as the flames destroyed everything, they were left in fear by the horrifying message the little kasai boy left behind.
