Twisted LullabyA Poem by Woja
In a cold and dusty nursery
sits a cradle never rocked. Within the same walls a childhood was once lost. Never given a chance grew up in a twisted lullaby. The truth was hidden from innocent eyes. Whimpering in the shadows it wasn't little Jack Horner Who was left quivering shoved into a corner. Who wishes on every twinkling star they see in the night sky. "One day they will love me I'll do better next time" Novel idea-children should be seen but never heard. As booze scented breath whispers "Hush now don't say a word" To keep family secrets forced to do your bidding. Distorted a child's mind placed on puppet strings. Neglected foundation crumbles and easily falls apart but the itsy bitsy spider weaved moments of terror into innocent hearts. They were never revealed out of fear and will to survive. Still who wants to believe in twisted lullabies. © 2011 Woja |
