Fairytale

Fairytale

A Poem by Woja

Children's foolish beliefs of recited fairytales
Floating though life on the ends of coat tails.
Begin an endless chase in pursuit of the wind.
Beware of the big bad wolf wearing sheepskin.

Run from the shadows, run to the light
But the ghosts of the past never die
Heavy chest thunderous heart beat
Full of doubt and thoughts incomplete

Whispered sweet nothings drive you in his arms.
This prince leaves a trail of broken hearts.
Search for the silver lining in darkened skies.
Exhale take a magic carpet ride.

Take away the pain with a loving kiss.
When left to face the truth, you don't exist
It's just an illusion that quickly fades.
Sleeping beauty doesn't easily wake.

Wow, I love how you combine the old children's fairytales in your poem. It's a beautiful poem! I loved it! Good job and keep on writing!

that last line really pulled the entire piece together perfectly. it is such a sad time when we lose faith in our fairytales, or when we watch others fall from naivety. you write abut this concept so powerfully and beautifully, and i am happy i stumbled upon it.

thank you for sharing!
