Broken Silence

Broken Silence

A Poem by Woja

Was your silence so precious, or was it your time?

Lost little boy avoiding your gaze. As you draw near he pulls away. He sits alone trying to erase the horror. Not making a sound rocks in a corner. Silent whispers fall upon deaf ears. Ever flowing river of invisible tears.

Filthy little girl torn shoes on her feet. Middle of summer wearing long sleeves. Hand on her shoulder quickly pulls away. Her body trembles, quivers and shakes. Canvas of fury faded yellow hue. Veil of secrecy cloaking the truth.

Lash of a tongue scaring a soul. Unleashed rage spinning out of control. Screams in the night without a sound. Now left with a tiny casket lowered into the ground.  Clues left behind for a blind eye. Choking on guilt as they idly stand by.

They say silence is golden but can save a life only when broken.

You write very well. Mine poems seem so simple compared to yours. I really like this poem. Good imagery. I can relate, of course, to this poem. Keep up the good work, you're very good

can't we all be saved broken or not? depends what the subject is. From my own experience with sexual abuse, silence is bad, silence kills the child inside. great imagery and good poem
