CatastropheA Poem by WojaEven a road that was paved with good intentions. Can became a one way street with opposition. Barely sixteen believed it was love. In a run down apartment it wasn't quite enough. Day after day building up debt. Paying the piper has a wearing effect. Young love submerged in poverty. They never had a chance such catastrophe. Every penny had to be stretched. Magic quickly fades until there's nothing left. Slinging powder diamonds to line his pocket with cash. He's all chalked up it could never last. Secrets pressed between quivering lips. Subtle clues she can't soon forget. She dines alone at a table set for two. Covered in little white lies with a dust of truth. News of a child that's unborn. Candle begins to flicker he walks through the door. His hair disheveled with red collar stains. Smell of perfume as he begins to explain. The bottom of the barrel victims of society. Never had a chance such a catastrophe. A head on collision Another mouth to feed. She grabbed her bag and turned to leave. Lucifer playground There was no escape. Hopes and dreams disappear in a fit of rage. He grabs her arm tempers begin to flare. Blue and white sirens begin to blare. Face the boys in blue he tries to resists. They slap shiny bracelets upon his wrists. Opens his mouth and he stutters. You don't understand I love her, I love her. © 2012 Woja |
