Til Death Do Us Part

Til Death Do Us Part

A Poem by SunnyDaze

His touch lingered on her skin like the soft dews of an autumn rain left on a flower

Reminiscing things that she’d envisioned for years

He’s finally calmed her fears

The memories of yesteryear

Things were so clear

His words replayed over and over in her head like a broken record

He was her Shepard

The way they danced under the moonlight and he held her tight, that was the night

Everything felt right

Things had changed

Something in him snapped like a twig under a branch that’s just fallen ten feet

He’s out of reach

He was falling, much like that branch

And she the twig waiting to be crushed

It was far too much

Inevitable, she was now a simple variable in the equation of his cynical elation

What lies beneath his surface?

Is it worth it?

His fingers wrap around her throat as he whispers sweet nothings and she draws her last breath

Hello death
