Fly away like the desert wind

I who am like the wind
Am strong and weak
Willful sometimes
And coward even

Will you stay knowing that?
Or will you fly far away?
Do you even see me now?
Or just some guy on a sunny bay?

Am I just a toy or the one you really love?
Maybe this time I'm walking out
Because I see no way to stay

But since you know better, do call me out.

And if you dare crush this romantic mistake

We used to call love

By god, do not hesitate!

Leave no unsaid word
And either give me the whole world
Or go away

Like the desert wind

Just fly away!

It's interesting that, in this poem the speaker admits to being strong and weak, yet seems to afford no such grace for their counterpart: that they must be the strong one, the definitive one simply because the first person demands it. Further confounding is that if the demand is not met, then they ought expel themselves like the wind which is apparently personified already by the speaker...

Oh my. What a recipe for disaster we have here. Though such is the common frame of "love" - however misguided. I think you captured that aspect very clearly.

It's funny how you managed to grasp the central idea of confusion I wanted to convey.
In my point of view, love is about a sea of confusion and passion. You give what you can and sometimes when you love too much you can lose yourself and what you think love is about. That's what I wanted to convey, that one moment when you don't know anymore what you want so you just run or scream and do something in a dazed panic that you might regret later. And, that, is also love. Love is more than the happy moments, the joyous reunions, the contagious laughter. It's also about the tears, the confusion, the loathing, the anger and the panic. Being in a relationship is scary after all and it should be okay to be scared, to panic, to run and then come back by our own timing. Some people don't think so, which I find incredibly strange. Love should be about opening yourself to somebody and that's not easy, giving your all to someone else is scary and it should be okay to feel that.
That was the view I wanted to honestly convey. That it's okay to be scared of love and be like the wind who flies away and then comes back.
