Echoes

Echoes

A Poem by ❀ Gabriela ❀
"

"There's silence, only silence. Nothingness, and nothing more..."

"
There's silence, only silence.

Nothingness, and nothing more.

And yet, the nothingness is crushing,

And the lull, a deafening roar.

There's blackness, utter darkness

And sheer emptiness beneath.

The walls around are caving in;

There's hardly room to breathe.

There's stillness, overwhelming

And far more than one can bear.

Yet a single desperate voice cries out,

"Is anybody there?"

This one small sound breaks through the fog.

This single, desperate plea

Calls out, aching and broken

For somebody, anybody.

But there's not a soul here to be found-

They’re nothing more than shadows.

The only voices calling back

Are echoes

echoes

echoes.

I love poetry that allows the reader to interpret it in anyway that flows. I love 'nothingness and nothing more' it just shows that there is literally no other word to describe nothing, there's just emptiness that looms and overwhelms. An extremely dark but beautiful piece. Very relatable.

Another great piece of writing.
i love the way you use the words in a staccato form when reading. it goes a bit like a machine gun.
Really enjoyed this one.

You are always welcome,dear friend.:)
Oh my heart aches having been there and felt the pain. Sometime there is just a feeling of an emptiness of suffocation. Great Write, its so empty yet hidden behind it is the emotion. I especially love the ending how it tends to fade.

This is so powerful and well written. The repetition of the word echoes has an especially dramatic effect. Wonderfully done!

Thanks so much! :D
Love the way you ended this repeating that one word. That just emphasizes the emptiness, the nothingness. Great write!

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! :)
A feeling of loneliness swept into my mind. The call a plea for an end of the torment of being alone. This is a nicely written cry for help.
Very well done, Gabriela

I loved it! The rhyme scheme is perfectly done, and the wordings are simply wonderful. The ending is really unique, but in a very good way. I like the description. Thank you for sharing this one!

This is really dark, and even though you barely detailed the place the lone-person is, I could imagine it clearly.. in my own interpretation. Any way, your rhythm pops in and out but by the end its not even an issue, it's moving. Relative, easy to imagine, saddening. deep. Good work !
