Desire

What is desire?
A weakness, or strength?

It can certainly drive you
To push to great lengths

It can motivate someone
To accomplish something great

But it can kindle up lust.
It can drive us to hate.

It's quite like a fire
Burning deep within our souls.

If we let it grow too strong, 
We can lose all control.

Yes, it can help you succeed,
But it can destroy you like fire.

So for the sake of yourself:
Reign in your desire!

I think you are fast becoming one of my favourite poete on here. This was another perfect and simple write that has that spot on rhythmic feel. I have read three of your poems so far and all of them make me want to dance, they have so much spring in them. It is getting late now but i will certainly be back to read more.

It amazes me how this poem is so short and yet so true and powerful! I couldnt agree more that desire is like a fire that can/will provide warmth but if you get too close it can also burn you. Love it!
