Roads

Roads

A Poem by ❀ Gabriela ❀
"

I wander, as through empty halls. And lonely roads, that no one knows...

"
I wander, as through empty halls
And lonely roads, that no one knows.
I cannot tell you where they go
Just that I wander them alone.

My wanderings are all my own
And run I must, or walk or crawl
To find my way, now or at all-
The world so big, and I, so small.

I only hope these empty halls
And lonely roads that I now roam
Will someday find me less alone;
My final destination known

That all these roads and empty halls
Will serve, one day, to guide me home.

I find that it's the roads that haven't been mapped or known yet are the best ones to wander through aimlessly. It's why I stopped going on trails... I'd always get lost and wouldn't be back until nightfall, lol.

I love the second stanza - its so powerful and resolved. I can practically feel the resonating emotion in it! Curious enough I find wandering in the wilderness has the best company (at least until the bugs come out) while hallways are dark and dreary so I just look at the architect and find beauty in it instead.

And then that last line makes me look at the entire poem in a new light - it's incredible the way you've structured and layered this write. Thanks for sharing!
