Earth's Hourglass

Earth's Hourglass

A Poem by ❀ Gabriela ❀
"

"Bit by bit, sand trickles down..."

"

Bit by bit, sand trickles down

The mountainous terrain

While brittle, twisted limbs reach up

From land that thirsts for rain.

And rays of sun, like shards of glass,

Pierce through pale, bleached sky

While withered boughs beg earnestly

For rain that isn't nigh.

The rush of torrid wind sweeps through

Like prayer said for rain;

All waiting 'til the heavens pour

And grant life once again.

favorite lines: withered boughs beg, rays of sun like shards of glass.

Now I'm thirsty.

This piece has great rhythm and flows very well, almost like a raindrop running down a window. This is writing that everyone can relate to. I like the title, it applies on so many levels due to the way we are not thinking of our mother earth and her care if this planet is going to sustain our thoughtless, greedy ways. Outstanding poem!

I liked it. A nice weaving of words, like the flow of a stream.
