"Emma?"
Peals of laughter rang out as the others caught up, and-
"Emma!"
She awoke with a start, laughter still ringing in her ears. The teacher glared down at her sternly.

This is a great story, giving the reader a peek into the thoughts, feelings and dreams of a student, especially early in the semester, when warm, bright lazy days are such a recent memory. Weaving the laughter of the class into laughter in the dream-Creative! Your story is a great example for short stories. I enjoyed reading it.

Your prose is just as good as your poetry. I love this! It's short, sweet and witty! Well done!

This is clever. Poor Emma--dreaming, or trying to dream, of the summer gone past.
