Debt

Debt

A Story by Lil.Sis5

The water turns my legs to jell-o. The ice feels like rocks against my skin. The chains tighten around my wrists and the blood that weeps from the fresh cuts feels like a hundred degrees. They are laughing as they plunge me back into the icy hell. I hold my breath and count.

“ One Mississippi…..two Mississippi….three Mississippi….four Mississippi….five Mississippi…. Whats going on? Pull me up! They said five minutes! They said five! The meant it...they want to kill me. This is on purpose.” The ice numbs my whole body and I can no longer feel my hands..my feet….my toes… my face.. nothing. The money. The car holds the money. They know that. Why didn’t they get it? I should never have gotten myself into this mess. My brain starts to go fuzzy. My chest tightens and my lips give out some air. My heart races and I panic. I try to calm myself down because panicking will make me need more oxygen. Calm….calm….calm…..silence. Black fills my vision and then snowy white. My last thought is of my little girl and my wife. They are smiling at me and gesturing me towards the light. They want me to join them and I don’t deny them my company.
