Honestly

Honestly

A Poem by Arthur Bellfield

Honestly
I just wanted to be the one for you
To be worthy of calling myself
Your “man”
And just be there when the over due bills come
Just to hold and kiss the in between
Moments
That a man should always share
With a woman such as you
Honestly
I just wanted to be a king
To your queen
And serve and protect
Every tear drop
No matter happy or sad
Because they belong to you
Honestly
I just wanted to up hold the Bible
And make an honest woman
Out of you
And make an honest man
Out of me
Honestly
I just wanted to be your DESTINY
Honestly
I just wanted to be around
And finally get
What you see
Within ugly poet me
Honestly
I just wanted to be free of insecurities
And be the man
In which your third eye sees
Honestly
I just want to grab my guitar
And play something
While you sing
To me
Because your voice
Like your emotions
And touch
Just does that
Thing to me
Honestly
I just wanted to LOVE
You
Like a black man
Should love a black woman
Because
The original love story
Started with Africans
Who could have been
You and me
Honestly
You mean more then
The past, present, and future
To me
Because right NOW
You are my everything
Honestly
